Hiking in the Mountains

Calm and cold like a glistening lake

The Winter time

Soon to end

The wind

Getting stronger as the time goes on

Everything starts to hide away

The rocks

Lean over the ridge

As if they’re hogging the view

Keas are flying

Diving at their prey

To get there lunchtime snack

The furry creature

Sprinting into the mist

Kea following

before the dark swallows them

I choose this poem because it stands out from the rest (in my opinion). I like the environment it is set in and the overall vibe I get from this poem. Another reason is because I can relate to this poem, I always think about this when i'm walking and how I could put this into words.

The challenging part I found in this unit was the choice of words, sometimes it was hard to find the right word to describe the vibe, setting and atmosphere.
I feel a lot more confident writing poems now because I know the format and the different types, I also know the play on words better and always mix things around.

Today we went to the hall to see a guy about family violence, he wasn't a guy that studied human behavior and started going around schools, he got all his information from his own experiences.

When I first walked in I thought it was just going to be some normal talker that got his knowledge from university, but Vic was talking about his life experiences and he's actually had the hard life (even through childhood).

One thing he faced during his experiences was his parents, they were very abusive and always hit their kids, even for the little mistakes, for example when he took to long to do something he'd bash the hell out of them.

One thing I'll remember from this talk is when he said violence was normal, his language because he's experienced it his whole life so he always got into fights, he loved the rush he got from fighting.
